What is the Cyber Essentials Certification?
The Cyber Essentials certification is the Government’s endorsed standard for technical security across the UK and typically costs from £300 upwards, plus VAT. Awarded by IASME, there are two types of of Cyber Essentials Certification that are available to you:
Cyber Essentials
The standard Cyber Essentials Certification involves our self-assessment which helps you to benchmark your security against five key areas. Research has shown that if the correct protective action is taken in line with these five areas, it can defeat the majority of low level automated cyber-attacks.
How to Get Cyber Essentials Certified
In order to start the process of getting Cyber Essentials certified you can take the free assessment below. You can download this assessment free of charge from the IASME website and start to work your way through it at no cost. You can also find the NCSC requirements linked for your insight.
Cyber Essentials Plus
The Cyber Essentials Plus Certification is very similar to the certification for Cyber Essentials except that it involves an independent audit of your system by a cyber professional. As part of the process, the assessor will check that you do what it is you say you do on your Cyber Essentials assessment by scanning your systems to check the five key areas are aligned with technical practice. Effectively this is independent assurance that you are meeting the standard which is demonstrable to third parties.
How to Get Cyber Essentials Plus Certified?
To get Cyber Essentials Plus certified you need to ensure that you take the scans the professional will do are within 3 months of your previous standard Cyber Essentials certification. Another option is to complete the Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certifications simultaneously.
