Cybercrime is expected to cost £8.5 trillion globally this year, with the legal sector reportedly accounting for over 24% of global cyber-attacks.
UK law firms are posing a very attractive target for cybercriminals, and robust cyber security measures and continuous staff training are essential for businesses to protect themselves and their clients’ confidential information. Net-Defence, who provide IT Support, telephony, and cyber resilience services have forged a partnership with content provider For Legal as industry experts to their on-demand learning and development webinars tailored to legal professionals.
The Law Society warns that the legal sector is ‘particularly vulnerable’ to these threats, with research highlighting that law firms have seen a “significant surge” in data breaches of late due to the sensitive nature of the information they handle, such as personal details, business intel, and legal documents.
The webinars from Net-Defence provide legal professionals with the opportunity to engage with leading industry experts, offering a dynamic, interactive learning experience. To date over 1,500 legal professionals have completed the CPD expert-led sessions themed around Cyber Security and the impact this has on the legal sector, addressing a host of threats from Business Email Compromise (BEC), Phishing, to Ransomware.
