A Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) cyber attack is where a hacker intercepts communication between two parties and alters or steals the information being transmitted.
Once a hacker gains access to the communication channel, they can easily steal sensitive information such as login credentials, financial data, and personal information.
This attack works by intercepting communication between two parties and impersonating one of them, which can be done by creating a fake access point or by compromising an existing one.
A hacker may also intercept communication between a user and a website and alter transmitted data. For example, a threat actor could modify a bank’s website to ask for additional login credentials, allowing them to steal the user’s login information.
To stay safe, make sure websites that you visit use HTTPS, which encrypts data sent between you and a website, and avoid using public Wi-Fi, as these networks are often unsecured.
